Spiritual Expansion
So I'm taking a class on spirituality in the contemporary world and as part of the course requirements, I have to submit a formal journal entry every two weeks. One of the things that is cool is that in an attempt to engage self more holistically(ie not just the head), we have an enormous amount of freedom to be creative and not confine our entries to the written word. As part of my Lenten journey this year, I'm also trying to focus a bit more on spiritual discipline in both prayer and meditation. Anyway, I decided to combine the efforts yesterday and spent hours on line researching various types of music for meditation. I was afraid that I would be inundated with New Age and little else.
I was pleasantly surprised to find a few sites that had good free music available for download. One of my favorite finds is from none other than the Vatican's Pontifical Institute for Sacred Music. I did of course find a lot of newage music as well.
Anyway, long and short, I was able to pull together a compulation of seven meditations that cover a host of different spiritual disiplines. We'll see how disciplined I can be in taking 10 minutes a day to listen to them!
